Continuing to Shape the "Mosaic" of Mississippi's Health Care

By: Dr. Dakota Bibbs

The future of health care looks as bright as ever. From June 15th through the 21st the Mosaic Summer Enrichment at the School of Medicine hosted 47 dual-enrolled rural high school students from across the state. The program has been and continues to be free thanks to the sponsorship of IMPACT the RACE (a grant funded by the Health Resources and Services Administrations). In this week-long, residential program, participants had the chance to connect to all seven schools represented on the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s campus to encourage and promote a potential future in health care. Each year, students enter the program wanting to pursue one career and often find themselves torn between two to three health care careers at the end of the program. During this jam-packed week, participants are exposed not only to the varying health care careers on campus but also immersed in engaging activities like Basic Life Support training, mock interviews, and CV workshops. Mosaic exists not only to better equip these young participants to pursue a career in health care but also to change the future of Mississippi. This is done in the pursuit of one goal: All for Your Health.
